Staff report from GFR release

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded this evening to a residential structure fire in the 800 block of NE 22nd Street. Upon arrival, smoke was visible from the home, and firefighters quickly initiated an offensive attack. Water was placed on the fire, and a search of the home was completed to ensure no one was left inside.

Three occupants were displaced as a result of the fire, but no injuries were reported. Gainesville Police Department assisted with traffic control.

We are grateful for the rapid and coordinated response of all units on scene, which ensured the fire was extinguished quickly and safely.

Safety Reminder: One of the leading causes of residential fires is unattended cooking. Always stay in the kitchen when cooking, and if you must step away, turn off the stove. A few moments of caution can prevent a lifetime of loss.

  • Great job GFR, I hope the residents can find a place to live
