GFR responds to Battery Land fire

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At approximately 8:09 p.m. this evening, Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) responded to a commercial building fire at 1535 NW 6th St.
Firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes and found a working structure fire in Battery Land. Firefighters immediately began applying water to the fire and searching for victims. A total of 35 firefighters responded to extinguish the fire. The fire was limited to the original business. Incident Commander Don Campbell said that NW 6th Street was temporarily closed in both directions for crews to access the closest hydrant.
No civilian or firefighter injuries resulted from this fire. The fire has been determined to have been caused by the building’s electrical system.
Imagine that, a fire at a battery facility… shouldn’t be news due to the frequency of fires and batteries
