GFR responds to fire at NE 16th Avenue and N. Main Street

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At approximately 2:45 a.m. this morning, Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) crews were dispatched to an outside fire at 1600 NE Main Street. The first-arriving unit noticed that fire conditions were spreading to the nearby two-story commercial building and upgraded the call to a Commercial Building Fire. A total of 22 firefighters from GFR responded quickly, the building was searched, and the fire was extinguished. There was no report of injury.

Quick and decisive action by firefighters limited damage to the structure. This fire is currently under investigation to determine the origin and cause.
