GFR responds to overnight fire at SkyFrog Tree Service

Press release from Gainesville Fire Rescue

At 10:00 p.m. on August 23, Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) crews were alerted to a commercial building fire at SkyFrog Tree Service, 2546 NW 74th Place. On arrival, crews found fire coming from the roof of a two-story metal-framed building.

Crews from GFR stations 5 and 7 made an initial fire attack before being augmented by additional crews from GFR stations 1, 8, and HazMat 2. No occupants were found in the business, which was closed. GFR crews were able to stop the fire in the front office, keeping the fire from moving to adjacent vehicle bays where heavy equipment was being stored. In total, 30 firefighters were committed to the fire attack. Incident Commander Don Campbell and District Chief Cary Williams credited the quick actions of the crews and the proximity of the hydrant for limiting the damage.

No firefighters were injured during the operation. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

  • Skyfrog has such a great team. I am glad no one was injured and I am hoping they find the individual that did this soon.
