Governor accepting applications for School Board of Alachua County District 5 seat

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Applications are open for the School Board of Alachua County District 5 seat that became vacant after Member Kay Abbitt resigned due to a potential conflict of interest.
Applicants must fill out this form to be considered for the seat; the appointment will be made by Governor Ron DeSantis. The checkbox for the Appointment Questionnaire must be checked to enable the rest of the form, and the seat can be found under the “Elected Official” Functional Category. Instructions for completing the application can be found at this link.
Applicants must live in District 5, shown in dark green in the map above, which can be found at the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections website.
Neighborhoods in District 5 include:
- Mentone
- Gainesville Country Club
- Willow Oak
- Meadows of Kanapaha
- Meadows on the Prarie
- Palms of Archer
- Apartment complexes between I-75 and 13th Street
- Butler Plaza area
- Portofino
- City of Archer
- City of Micanopy
- Southern half of SW 170th Street and SW Parker Rd
Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s too many who are willing to deal with that group of biased dysfunction.
Probably more people willing to have a root canal.
Rather suffer extreme hemorrhoids than have to try to work with the remaining SBAC interest group elected members!
