Governor DeSantis appoints John Guard to 2nd District Court of Appeal

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announces one judicial appointment:

John Guard, to serve as Judge on the Second District Court of Appeal

Guard currently serves as Senior Counselor to the Attorney General, where he has served since 2025. Prior to serving as Senior Counselor, he served as Chief Deputy Attorney General and as Acting Attorney General. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, Guard was a Partner at Quarles & Brady L.L.P. and served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. Guard received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his juris doctor from Tulane University.
