TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations.

In the executive order (EO), DeSantis writes that the Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamist ideology is “irreconcilable with foundational American principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness reflected in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, especially including the right to religious freedom and the equal protection of the laws”.

The EO goes on to say that the Muslim Brotherhood created Hamas in 1987, “the primary goal of which is the destruction of the State of Israel and the eradication of Jews in their historic homeland of Judea and Samaria” and that “organizations affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas have had active fundraising arms in the United States, which have raised funds to support Hamas’s terrorist attacks in the Middle East”.

The EO states that CAIR was founded in 1994 “and was created, in the words of persons affiliated with CAIR, as ‘an official U.S. cover representing the Islamic community’ to conceal ties to Islamic extremist groups.”

The EO directs the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Highway Patrol to “undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities in Florida” by these groups, and Executive and Cabinet agencies are directed to prevent these organizations from receiving any “contract, employment, funds, or other benefit or privilege [from State entities] or from any County or Municipality of the State.”

    • So you like “The Governor’s way or the highway”, down to running Disney and cruise lines, library books, school and university curriculum, hiring, and tenure (our higher education ratings are headed down) and especially like stunts like his giving state property – not his, yours and mine – valued at $350 million in dead center downtown Miami to Trump for his presidential library and without even a hearing? How about diverting $10 million in state money to fight a ballot intiative he didn’t like, hiding travel and other expenses that likely helped his campaigns, and turning down federal money for medicaid intended to help those who can’t afford health insurance?

      You’re proud of all that?

  • I’ve always supported term limits, but I wish Governor DeSantis was NOT term-limited. Best damn governor I’ve ever seen and I’m almost 66!

  • Nice, but the actual, everyday terrorists are Judges and Public Lawyers. When will Lawyer DeSantis do something about them?

    ACLUSPLCDNC 👹👺👿🤡💩

  • Texas Gov Abbott just did this, so mini-me DeSantis has to. But based on below, he needs to declare Israel a terrorist state as long as Netanyahu is in power.

“But reporting in the New York Times has revealed that Netanyahu’s government was more hands-on about helping Hamas: they helped a Qatari diplomat bring suitcases of cash into Gaza, indirectly boosting the militant organization, according to the report.

The calculus — the Times reported on Sunday, citing Israeli officials, Netanyahu’s critics, and the man’s own reported statements — was to keep Hamas strong enough to counteract the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, allowing Netanyahu to avoid a two-state peace solution and keep both sides weak.

Israeli security officials got it wrong; they didn’t think Hamas was capable, or even interested, in launching a large attack against the Jewish state.

To keep Hamas propped up, Netanyahu’s government worked with Qatari to keep the money flowing, the New York Times reported. Israel knew that Qatar was supporting Hamas, but didn’t oppose the payments and even lobbied American lawmakers not to sanction Qatar…”
