  • SMOKING MIRRORS. HE IS PRETENDING TO BE DOING SOMETHING WHILE GETTING PAID TO CAMPAIGN AND PAD HIS COFFERS . PURA VIDA RON DESANTIMONIOUS, [MEDRA DE TORO]

  • SB892 – “The effect of the bill will be to exempt border patrol agents and salaried baseball players from the Florida Minimum Wage Act.” He just got a big donation from the father of the owners of the Chicago Cubs. Thank God those hard pressed MLB team owners, players, and staff will be able to feed their families because of this.

    • It brings Florida minimum wage laws in line with federal minimum wage laws. The federal wage law exempts “Baseball players who are compensated pursuant to a contract that provides for a weekly
salary for services performed during the league’s championship season at a rate that is not
less than a weekly salary equal to the minimum wage.”

Not less than a weekly salary equal to the minimum wage. NOT LESS THAN.

      • Nancy, the law (from the bill summary at Florida legislative page) “… will (be to) exempt border patrol agents and salaried baseball players from the Florida Minimum Wage Act.” Yes, minimum 40 hr week, but that period is sufficient to meet the law, i.e., real hours beyond that are not counted. The bill (and federal law) was supported by owners, opposed by the AFL-CIO.

  • Left out the governor’s declaration of Florida as a sanctuary state for indicted GOP politicians, and his restated dedication to weaponizing the state government against anyone who publicly disagrees with him or any new laws passed by the legislature.
