Governor Ron DeSantis announces successful rescue of more than 700 total Americans from Haiti
Press release from the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the State of Florida has successfully rescued 722 Americans from Haiti. The Florida Division of Emergency Management (the Division) began rescue operations at the direction of Governor DeSantis on March 20, 2024, due to the political turmoil in Haiti.
“The State of Florida doesn’t shy away from doing the right thing and helping Americans in need,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “I’m proud to announce that despite the lack of cooperation from the federal government, more than 700 Americans have been successfully evacuated from Haiti to Florida.”
“Evacuating our residents has been challenging, and I am incredibly proud of the hard work our State Emergency Response Team, private and nonprofit partners have done to bring Americans home and accommodate their needs upon returning to Florida,” said Division Executive Director Kevin Guthrie. “We will always stand ready to support our residents, and I thank Governor DeSantis for giving us the opportunity to do so in any crisis.”
Upon return to Florida, the Division ensures evacuees have access to resources including, but not limited to, food, water, medical treatment, and transportation home.
These rescue operations from Haiti mark the second time the Division, under the leadership of Governor DeSantis, has brought Americans home from crises abroad. In October of 2023, Florida embarked on a mission to bring Americans home who were unable to leave Israel following the attack by Hamas terrorists. Florida returned more than 700 Americans from Israel.
Our governor is one of the many reasons to love Florida!
Looking at all the thumbs-down, I’m intrigued that so many people would, apparently, have abandoned fellow Americans to whatever dangers befell them, in order to make sure DeSantis didn’t get any sort of credit for rescuing them. Maybe there’s another reason.
There are a couple regular commenters on this site who think the first thing DeSantis does wrong every day is wake up alive. He could declare a cure for every human disease tomorrow and they would still despise him.
We should trade them for our repeat offenders, and their lawyers.
Congressman Cory Mills is the one who deserves all the credit for initiating these types of rescue missions. He doesn’t issue press releases in sharp contrast to what is being promoted in this article.
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery except when you try to self promote yourself with questionable press releases?
Yes Cory Mill was the biggest part of this rescue. But Florida GOP and other conservative organizations helped with costs and coordination too. So long as you are not given Dementia Joe and minions credit.
Way to go, Guys & Gal’s, we are PROUD of you all.
Shut up punk. Real governors aren’t supposed to constantly attack the president and other governors, especially a President who funds many of the give aways this fool brags about without mentioning where he got the cash, and who shows up with more money when hurricanes hit and hi-rises collapse.
Just do your job, you clown.
Big surprise: the President doesn’t fund ANYTHING. We do, when Congress appropriates and distributes our taxes (and runs us further and further into debt, but that’s another topic).
Well, nobody can accuse you of keepin’ it classy….”shut up punk?” SMH, rational discussion, even when an opinion conflicts with your own, should be civil.
Jizzys back…..
I love our Gov.! Finally….a grown-up in the room! Can you imagine life in Florida if Charlie Cheeto or worse even…Andrew Gillum, the criminal caught on a drug-binge with a male prostitute…..
