Today, Governor Ron DeSantis released a video message to Floridians highlighting the first week of COVID-19 vaccinations in the state, including the news that Florida was the first state in the nation to vaccinate residents of long-term care facilities. Governor DeSantis began this historic week for our state and country at Tampa General Hospital, where he signed for the FedEx delivery of the first shipments of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The Governor also introduced Vanessa Arroyo, a frontline nurse who was one of the first individuals in Florida to receive the vaccine.
The Governor also visited John Knox Village of Pompano Beach, one of the first long-term care facilities in Broward County to begin vaccinating staff and residents for COVID-19. While at John Knox Village, Governor DeSantis met Vera Leip, a retired schoolteacher and 88-year old resident of John Knox Village, who became one of the first long-term care facility residents in the country to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Finally, the Governor DeSantis highlighted the state’s ongoing economic recovery from COVID-19. This week the Governor traveled to Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach, where he met with restaurant employees and small business owners who shared their experiences during the pandemic. At Okeechobee Steakhouse, the Governor met Theresa Hodgdon, a server/bartender and single mother of two kids who was able to provide for her family during the pandemic, something she would not have been able to do if the restaurant industry had been shut down.
Let’s hope Ron continues on this course. The recommendations from a the CDC panel on distribution is essentially to have non-whites receive the vaccine first. So those in long term Heath care facilities could watch non-whites get vaccinated while those born of “white” skin wait until a much later date.
The logical progression and process would normally be to address those most susceptible, regardless. Yet we find ourselves in a new racially contrived world. Is this part of reparations…and the targets are considered old racists and slave owners?
So all whites were slave owners? Well I have tracked my family history in this country from their early arrival in the 1600’s and they never owned or were involved in slave trade. Actually they came here on some conditions to avoid being either put into slave conditions or having to support a religion that they did not desire.
We as a Nation are treading down a path for complete division which is what is desired by our international adversaries….divide and conquer!
