Governor Ron DeSantis vetoes bill that further limited cannabinoids in hemp products

Staff report
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis vetoed CS/SB 1698, Food and Hemp Products, which established additional regulations for the sale of hemp, including limitations on the cannabinoids that can be included in hemp products.
In his veto letter, the Governor wrote that he signed a bill last year (SB 1676) that prohibited the sale of hemp products to anyone under 21, set food safety and standards for hemp processing facilities, and provided a potency cap on all products containing hemp extract.
The Governor wrote that the goals of SB 1698 are commendable, but he believed the bill “would, in fact, impose debilitating regulatory burdens on small businesses and almost certainly fail to achieve its purposes.” He encouraged the legislature to reconsider the topic during the next Legislative Session and laid out suggestions for guidelines for the industry.
The bill would have prohibited the sale of hemp products that included “any quantity of synthetic cannabinoids; or delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol, delta-10-tetrahydrocannabinol, hexahydrocannabinol, tetrahydrocannabinol acetate, tetrahydrocannabiphorol, or tetrahydrocannabivarin” and limited the concentration of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol.
What are “synthetic cannabinoids” made from, real hemp or artificial hemp?
Neither. Synthetics are products made by chemical synthesis in labs, just like synthetic grass (Astroturf) isn’t made from any real grass and synthetic rubber (petroleum product) isn’t made from any real plant sap. Also, hemp refers primarily to the fiber of the plant rather than the psychoactive cannabinoids found primarily in the flower.
Pot gives you red eyes and a hollow head.
Alcohol and marijuana consumption both can cause red eyes by way of changes in blood pressure. Likewise, both drugs affect short-term memory; this is the “hollow head” you’re referring to. Alcohol, however, also inhibits the formation of long-term memory, which is what we call a blackout. Put simply, both drugs can be used responsibly by intelligent people, but both drugs will exacerbate the stupid behavior of stupid people. Many prescription drugs also cause the effects you’ve described, and those drugs are clearly labeled with warnings for stupid people not to do stupid things when using them. But stupid people aren’t well known for following instructions.
Actually thankful for all the naw laws increasing the usage of the drug known as Weed……
It makes it that much easier to excel 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks
