GPD announces Oct. 7 public safety exercise near airport

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Police Department is advising the public that there will be increased public safety activity around the Gainesville Regional Airport on October 7.

The airport will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise drill as part of its Emergency Operations Plan. This drill is a routine requirement by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and is held every three years to ensure preparedness and coordination among emergency response agencies.

This is only a drill — there is no cause for public concern.
