GPD asks for help in identifying burglar at Outreach Thrift

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Police Department is requesting assistance with identifying the person of interest in the above images. This individual was involved in two separate business burglaries at Outreach Thrift in the past three weeks.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact GPD Detective A. Bunevich at 352-393-7662 or remain anonymous by contacting Alachua County Crime Stoppers at 352-372-7867.

  • Pretty desperate stealing from a thrift store. My suggestion, stake out the Salvation Army or Goodwill stores. Gotta cut costs somewhere and since GRU will turn the power off if you don’t pay the bill…just saying.
Commissioners have a hand in this, either one hand or the other.

  • Is it illegal in Gainesville for GPD to use facial recognition software? I know it’s probably used elsewhere, but here it’s not DEI compliant.

    • They know who he is. There’s cameras on every street corner.
They got him with the facial recognition and he has a cell phone. He’s probably a resident at Grace Marketplace. They’ll drop the charges after they arrest him.

      • GRACE Marketplace has a free thrift store on their campus, if he was going to GRACE he would know he could get clothes for free. Idiot.

  • why steal from the outreach center, I’m sure if he talked to them and asked for help they would have helped him. the staff there are so nice and a lot of their items are marked very cheap, sometimes even a quarter for a t-shirt. Sometimes all you have to do is ask for the help!

    • unfortunately, as proven by most of the comments on this website, the majority of people are unkind. he has probably asked for help in the past and been shamed and treated poorly, and therefore thinks this is his only option. GRACE Marketplace has a free clothing closet, and I’m sure there are other community resources as well. I hope this young man gets the help he needs.

      • This comment is silly. The guy is a thief. There are plenty of homeless and unemployed people un this area that are not thieves. If they need help they ask or go through the proper channels to receive help. The thing I do not understand if he asked for help he should have gotten it in this liberal city. Rich progressive liberals should be opening their homes, wallets, bank accounts, and closets in Wokeville to cloth and nurture this poor misguided person. After all liberals will tell you it is this not this thief’s fault he is misunderstood. He sure looks like he is wearing decent enough clothing and has a name brand backpack. I gotta call thief on this one.

        • y’all are SO obsessed with people who vote democrat it’s literally deranged. It’s like your brain is completely hardwired to only comprehend people as either liberals or conservatives. it’s a sick obsession.

          • Being a thief is pretty much as low as being a pedophile. To take something that doesnt belong to you and depriving the owner of the use is nothing more than being a POS. People work hard to own and have things. To have a thief come along and steal them. imagine your most prized possession of your life being plucked out of your hands.

          • Just saying thieves are a low form of life I hold them to the same form of low life that I hold pedos, murderers, rapists, drug dealers, and terrorist to. Sorry if that offends your touchy feely views of criminals

  • Judge Green has preemptively set bail at $3.50 in the event that this criminal is caught.

  • Maybe check with the ethnic barber shops in the area, especially those known for doing fades.
