GPD assists with Indiana arrest for online child exploitation

Press release from Gainesville Police Department

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. – The Gainesville Police Department is proud to share that this past Monday we were part of a child exploitation arrest in Clarksville, Indiana.

In July, members of the Gainesville Police Department ICAC Division followed up on a local report of sextortion involving an 11-year-old child. This investigation led them to suspect Dakari Gaines of Clarksville, IN. Our ICAC Division then reached out to Indiana State Police (ISP), where it was learned that Dakari Gaines was the subject of a number of child exploitation complaints over the last two years.

Both agencies coordinated their efforts, and our detective traveled to Indiana this past Monday, which led to the arrest of Dakari Gaines. Dakari Gaines told our detective that he knew he did something wrong and he was “trying to get away from” doing it. Dakari Gaines admitted to being the suspect in at least 15 cases of online child exploitation. Local charges against Dakari Gaines will be forthcoming.

The Gainesville Police Department wants to thank ISP for allowing GPD the opportunity to assist with and be a part of this investigation.

  • Thank you GPD for excellent work. PLEASE keep after these traffickers of the most vunerable

    • I agree, Thomas. Now if we can find the hundred of thousands of border children seized by the Feds at the border and who the Biden Administration ‘lost’. Working in factories, fields, wealthy private homes and cat houses.
