GPD increases patrols on City’s Rails to Trails system after reports of inappropriate conduct
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is increasing patrols and law enforcement presence along the City’s Rails to Trails system in response to multiple reports of inappropriate behavior on the trails.
According to a social media post, reported incidents include a suspect on a bicycle groping trail users, indecent exposure, and acts of public masturbation. The post states, “These behaviors are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The safety of our community remains our top priority.”
GPD urges anyone who witnesses suspicious activity or experiences any of these behaviors to call 9-1-1 immediately. Prompt reporting allows officers to respond quickly and helps identify and apprehend those responsible.
Trail users are encouraged to take the following safety precautions:
- Remain alert and aware of your surroundings at all times.
- Be mindful of the people around you.
- If using the trail at night, travel with a companion whenever possible.
- Carry a light source and ensure you are visible.
- Walk confidently and at a steady pace.
- If you feel threatened or are in danger, attract attention and seek help immediately.

State of the City didn’t mention any of this sort of thing. Oh look everyone, it’s benmont tench. He’s in ole Harv’s selfie.
An additional safety precaution should be carrying a taser.
And have a couple of big dogs walk with you
Trails are homeless corridors for M-eridian and GRACE clients. Tax law firms to add security.
Thank you for including maps.
Might it be possible for GPD to be a bit more specific with info regarding the sections of trails, where incidents are being reported?
I almost believe the city and council officials don’t care about citizen safety when they dream up these money making ideas. Shame on the ‘we need another park people’.
“These behaviors are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The safety of our community remains our top priority.”
All three of these statements are false, unfortunately.
The Gainesville City Commission funds the criminal leadership of GRACE Marketplace to attract more of these violent homeless degenerates and drug addicts into our community, using our tax dollars of course.
More homeless means more tax-payer funding for GRACE, which means a bigger kickback to the mayor and other city commissioners.
GPD does what they can, but the city government is actively fighting against them and the tax-paying citizens of Gainesville.
