GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Police Department is asking the public for information about a shooting incident in the 1000 block of NE 23rd Street just after midnight on January 2.
Just after midnight on January 2, officers responded to a shooting incident in the 1000 block of NE 23rd Street. The initial investigation indicates that an altercation began during a party attended by the victim; he was shot, and the injuries are not life-threatening.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call GPD Investigations Bureau at 352-393-7700. We need law enforcement surveillance cameras all over east Gainesville. People won’t have to worry about being snitches, and LE won’t have to wait around for public cooperation, which rarely happens. Hopefully, cameras would reduce crime, increase arrests and convictions in a shorter timeframe, and reduce the number of unsolved crimes. If they found the money for red light cameras, they can find the money for crime surveillance/public safety cameras. Priorities.
It is not only the Eastside. The projects and affordable housing off Tower Road on 20th Avenue and 8th Avenue are just as dangerous.
Yes they are because they moved there from the eastside which started with the closure of Kennedy project.
