At 2:50 a.m., officers responded to the corner of W. University Avenue and 13th Street, where they found a 33-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound in his arm. The victim said he was at Wilhelmina Johnson Cultural Center (321 NW 10th Street) when a passing vehicle fired several shots at him. The victim went to a relative’s home to get a ride to the hospital, but they stopped and called 911 at University and 13th Street.

The victim is reportedly in stable condition.

According to a spokesman, GPD does not currently have a description of the vehicle or any suspects.

  • It’s cultural…

Nothing will fix it until the people who have a stake in it want to.
Imagine, if they put 1/2 the effort into that as they do clamouring about banning firearms or objecting to single member districts.

  • They were probably fighting over the exceptional tailgating deal offered by Krystal: one dollar worth of bread for only $12.

  • That’s just a stone’s throw from brand new luxury student apartments. It hasn’t been fully gentrified yet, still a ways to go District 1 👹💩👿🤡👺

  • Business as usual for the dope-slingers in the hood. Guess the latest symposium on gun violence and how to stop it isn’t working to dang good huh? Well it does keep the funeral homes busy.

    • Mainly just 1 – starts with a “C.”
I would also guess they use a specific bail bondsman – starts with an “R.”

      • What’s going on at Wilhelmina Johnson center at 2:50 am?

        And a drive-by shooting?

We got to be so politically correct that you cannot tell us anything more… just a male.

        • Probably just people in cars congregating in the unblocked parking lot in the middle of the night. Checkers is a few blocks away. A helicopter flying around would have spotted that gathering and sent a patrol car or two over there to clear the area before anybody got shot.

  • IT SOUNDS LIKE THE PLUG GOT WHAT HE KNEW WAS COMING AFTER SHORTING THAT MAN ON HIS 8 BALL…
TOO BAD THE TRAP SPOT IS EXPOSED NOW

  • Well, thank goodness we have the homeless ambassadors program starting up. Maybe the criminals and their violent gang initiations can hold off until the city employs the new eyes and ears of the downtown area.
