GPD investigating shooting in Sweetwater Apartments

Press release from Gainesville Police Department

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At approximately 7:44 p.m. this evening, Gainesville Police Department began receiving calls about persons shot in Sweetwater Apartments, located at 3101 NE 15th Street. An initial investigation revealed that subjects arrived in a vehicle and began shooting at another group of subjects, who returned fire and struck subjects in the vehicle. Two subjects were dropped off at a nearby hospital but were transferred to Shands. One is in surgery, and the other is stable.

The suspect vehicle was located in Pine Ridge; a suspect fled from the vehicle on foot. Officers are still actively searching for that suspect. This is an active investigation; updates will follow at a later time.

Members of the community with information about this incident are asked to call 352-955-1818.

  • Looks like those thugs plans didn’t go so well. (The ones in the car)

  • Sweetwater and Pine Ridge are just two section 8, taxpayer-subsidized crime breeder ranches designed to pay off law skool loans faster. There are many more in our once *fair* Dem college town of non-profit LLC and NGO mutual parasite 3% election funding/voter orgs.
GPD and ASO should both go on strike until lawyers and judges starve.

    • I are so wrong about pineridge I can’t speak for Sweetwater every one isn’t on Section 8 thank u

  • Sweetwater, Rainwater, it’s still Village/Forest Green. A crime mecca like Pineridge & Eden Park.
Guess the ‘feel good’ counselors from GPD didn’t get around to those misplaced men before they shot up the hood.

  • Who here pictured colored folk when you were reading the story? I did. Open all the TB Macpherson venues you want. Open movie theaters, heck put everything that’s on the west side of Gainesville out east. It doesn’t matter, these shootings will continue as this IS the black culture. There would just be more places to get shot at.
    Nothing will ever change this.

    • We all pretty much knew who was involved. And, until people stand up and demand that criminals, all criminals, be treated as criminals and serve real sentences preferably at hard labor, nothing is going to change.

      • It’s not racist when it’s true. Shootings here are majority black and it’s just a fact. The black on black crime is out of control and the city is allowing too many chances.

  • Wonder if they enlisted the services of the K-9 unit or if they’re still afraid of public opinion?

  • There they go again…..the ‘eastside Mensa’ group creating more equity for their stellar culture.

  • Wasn’t that the same area that Terrell Bradley got pulled over!?! And you all then cried for months about the big bad cops and how awful they are? Yet now you WANT the police back in your area to investigate this crime. Geesh…cops these days have to have the patience of saints to deal with many of you two-faced snakes.

  • A whole lot of good Christian souls in the comments today. Jesus will be proud of his followers.

  • When we face up to the fact that 20 years of “interventions” are not only NOT WORKING, it is creating more very serious problems for a portion of our community. Black on Black Crime Task Force, not working. Violence Interupters, not working. Reichert House day care center, not working. GPD “community policing”, not working. “One Community” does not describe the mayhem on a specific community besieged by violence. And all the powers that be seem to know is more of the same. Fire the city manager and replace ALL of the command structure at GPD NOW!

    • Speaking of which, when’s the next white-on-white crime task force meeting? I’d like to attend…

      • Guess you’ll just have to wait until White on White crime is a problem…

        • White on white crime is a problem just not in Gainesville 😂😂

  • On Saturday 18 January 2020 an Irishman fired 4 shots at me and missed with all 4 because Irishmen are bad shots. I identified the young Irish lad but GPD refused to arrest him because he missed me and he didn’t mean it anyway. Plus the city commission doesn’t want the Irish to be arrested because it is racist. Gainesville has an Irish problem. I moved to Gilchrist County because there are less ill behaved Irish there.

  • If these youth had something else to do besides shoot each other. Like a track to run around to burn off excess energy. If the BOCC hurries they can spend $40 million tax dollars on a jock palace at someplace close to East Gainesville, like Celebration Point. Someplace easy to get to with public transportation. And open 24/7 to accommodate the youngster’s schedules. Get on it, Prizzia and Co.

  • Pat did it now he just walking around like nothing happened and his momma was picking up shell cases
