GPD investigating two shooting incidents over the weekend

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend; recaps are below. GPD is actively investigating each crime. Investigations are ongoing, therefore information is limited.
CASE NUMBER 22-16907
On Friday, Nov. 4, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to 3101 NE 15th ST- Sweetwater Square Apartments after multiple calls were placed reporting shots being fired in the area. The investigation revealed several gunshots were fired from a vehicle. This incident may be related to a large physical fight at Citizen’s Field.
CASE NUMBER 22-16971
On Sunday, Nov. 6, at approximately 1:03 a.m., numerous officers responded to the area of 500 SW 2nd Ave in reference to four people shot. Preliminary investigation indicates the victims and suspects (who were not residents of Gainesville and were known to each other) got into an altercation in the downtown parking garage. The victims left on foot and were walking when the suspects drove up in a vehicle and opened fire. Responding officers applied first aid measures utilizing their trauma kits until EMS arrival. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Thanks to current local leadership, we are getting closer to having the same violent crime numbers as Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, NYC, Philadelphia, Portland and other Democrat run cities. Remember, that’s what the Democrats endorse.
