GPD makes arrest in child pornography case

Press release from Gainesville Police Department

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On Wednesday, April 19, the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division served a search warrant at 405 NW 19th Lane APT #A. The investigation was prompted after GPD received a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The Cyber Tip indicated that a cloud storage service provider determined a user uploaded and stored child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on their platform.

Further investigation by Detective Montague of the Gainesville Police Department revealed that the images were uploaded from the listed location, where Richard Lipscomb, Jr. (B/M, 08-03-2000) resides. During a Post-Miranda interview, Richard admitted to the ownership of the account in question. Richard went on to state that he paid an unknown Twitter user for a batch of content, which contained child sexual abuse material. Richard stated he would not say he had an “interest” in child sexual abuse material, but more of a “curiosity.”

Preliminary analysis of one of Richard’s electronic devices produced a number of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Richard Lipscomb, Jr. was subsequently arrested for 12 counts of possession of child pornography.

The Gainesville Police Department wants parents to be aware that children are being solicited and exploited through social networking and messaging apps. We encourage parents to have age-appropriate conversations with their children about the dangers of the internet. Please be vigilant and aware of any social networking platforms your children may access. If you have any questions about this incident, please contact GPD Detective Donna Montague at 352-393-7730 or montagueda@cityofgainesville.org.

  • Like his father he has the “Chester” gene coursing through his brain. Excuses of “interest” or “curiousity” don’t work, especially if you are paying someone for access to it. No punishment or mental health treatment will cure his sick desires. Only cure is a permanent lobotomy to protect the community’s childern.
