GRACE Marketplace launches executive search for permanent Chief Executive Officer

Press release from GRACE Marketplace
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry (ACCHH), which operates as GRACE Marketplace, is pleased to announce the launch of its executive search for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Board of Directors is seeking a visionary, mission-driven leader to guide the organization through its next chapter of impact and growth.
“We’re not just looking for someone to run the day-to-day,” said Kevin Spellicy, Board Chair for GRACE Marketplace. “We want a leader who truly cares about people — someone who listens, builds trust, and brings the kind of heart and steady leadership it takes to make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors experiencing homelessness.”
GRACE is seeking a leader with a collaborative and transparent leadership style, strong financial and fundraising skills, and a passion for low-barrier, housing-first, and person-centered approaches. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven professional with a deep commitment to serving vulnerable populations and a strong understanding of the systemic inequities that contribute to homelessness.
Last September, the Board of Directors appointed John Thomas to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer, providing leadership and continuity during a period of executive transition.

What’s it pay? For $200,000 I can learn to care about people.
We’ve seen what $250k+ buys around Gainesville so I’d be a bargain.
If you click the link, it shows the salaries and benefits.
$100-125k
What you need is a CEO who will take seriously the safety of the people who are hard on their luck and need to stay there:
– Put a police substation back on the property.
– Anyone wanting to stay there must pass a background check, which they could then do right on the property.
– Everyone coming in must go through a metal detector, every time.
– Anyone staying there must give weekly updates on how they are succeeding – job or education, etc. Kick out the lazies. Move the successes to other housing.
– No tents on the property. This isn’t camp. Build proper structures with bunk beds and lockers.
Thanks for your constructive comments – not the norm.
Hire Beardy, he’s already identified the problems plaguing Grace that the City has been ignoring for years.
And make them work for repay their stay. If they can be 8 hours on a hot day at the traffic light , the can wear a uniform and pick up the trash they throw the streets.
I recommend Jazzman for the position. He seems to have a handle on solving all the homeless problems. Fund it and they will come. Defund it and they’ll go somewhere else that uses their taxpayers $$$ to subsidize their own crime rates.
Tax the hell out of the local bar association. Who’s paying the salary?
If there’s money to be made, Tony Adams will be on this like stink on sh!! He did such a great job with Reichert House, and of course managing the ARPA funds for the GNV CC way back when Poe was the criminal in charge!
There isn’t enough money in the world to get me to work at Grace. They need to shake the rug and replace the entire staff given their successes so far. It is a waste of money and a drain on our city.
BM101 should be called BS101 Because who the heck said staff has not been successful? Commenting outside of grace w/o knowing the hard work that is put in EVERY DAY seems ignorant and irresponsible . Are you doing anything besides judging? Gosh you internet judgement crusaders floor me…. Maybe your rug needs a little shakey shake.
