GRU makes credit card payments more convenient and less expensive

Press release from Gainesville Regional Utilities
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – As of Friday, Feb. 7, GRU increased the maximum amount for a single credit card payment from $500 to $1,000, providing greater flexibility and convenience for residential customers managing their utility bills.
A GRU residential customer paying a $1,000 utility bill by credit card will save $2.51 on the transaction.
Beginning Feb. 7, GRU customers can now make a single credit card payment of up to $1,000 instead of splitting payments into two separate transactions. Along with this change, the credit card processing fee marginally increased from $2.75 to $2.99 per transaction.
To avoid this fee entirely, customers can log in with a GRU.com account and pay by electronic bank transfer, or ACH. ACH payments incur no processing fees, making them the most cost-effective payment option.
“We’re committed to making bill payment as simple and affordable as possible,” said Director of Customer Operations Kinn’zon Hutchinson. “By increasing the credit card transaction limit and continuing to offer fee-free ACH payments for logged-in users, we’re giving customers more ways to manage their payments efficiently.”
