GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gun Violence Prevention Alliance will host a presentation of its county-wide new gun violence strategic plan on Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe College Blount Center (530 W. University Ave., Gainesville).
Consultants from DPI LLC will present the completed plan. Community members are invited to attend, ask questions, learn about involvement opportunities, and share information within their neighborhoods.
The meeting will be held in person and via Zoom.
Watch the presentation on Zoom.
The alliance is a partnership among Alachua County, the City of Gainesville, the Children’s Trust of Alachua County, and Santa Fe College.
“Preventing gun violence requires every part of our community working together,” said Carl Smart, Alachua County’s executive liaison for public safety and community relations. “When local governments, schools, families, and organizations unite around a shared plan, we strengthen our ability to protect our neighborhoods and support our young people. This collaboration is essential to creating a safer future for everyone in Alachua County.”

The only way of lowering gun violence, you start by getting rid of liberal judges, and hold these thug punks responsible for their actions and put them away for a LONG TIME IN PRISON!😳
Nope, not the only way. Another way is to do the harder work to prevent children from going down a path of crime by offering support, opportunities, and education to children and parents.
How are any of those empty platitudes going to stop certain people from shooting each other?
Stop it Alachua County, just stop.
Yeah! That’s it…..get those violent guns! You know….the ones that keep getting used by revolving door felons they keep releasing?
Florida’s 3 strikes law is very weak and optional. Harden this up, lock up repeat felons and habitual offenders for life. Problem mostly solved.
Yeah, parents need to start parenting again and criminals need to be punished, actually punished for their crimes. Criminals make the choice, decision to commit crimes. Not anyone else’s fault.
They may want to put more emphasis on a tactical plan before they start strategic planning. There’s a problem that needs to be dealt with now.
What’s this costing the taxpayers ? because incarceration works!
