Halloween costume prompts law enforcement response on UF campus
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida Police Department (UFPD) responded to a report of a man carrying a gun on the UF campus today and found a man carrying a water pistol as part of his Halloween costume.
At about 11 a.m. on October 30, UFPD dispatchers received calls about a man carrying a gun in the area of Little Hall. As officers searched the area, a man called to say he believed he fit the description of the suspected gunman that was shared on social media; he said he was dressed as a science fiction character for Halloween and was carrying a water pistol as a prop.
Officers confirmed the suspected firearm was a water pistol and that the man did not pose a threat to campus.
UFPD expressed gratitude to the people who took the time to report the incident and reminded the campus community to be “prudent” when selecting props and attire for Halloween or other events.

Idiots causing a ruckus on campus… Idiot for bringing the stupid toy gun out of the house and idiots for overreacting to it. However some people live for drama and never miss an opportunity to activate it.
The only idiot was the person bringing the water pistol on campus. The could have wore the outfit but let the pistol at home. No one overreacted. Had it a been a real gun and people had been shot you would be hollering at the people who saw it and said nothing. Thanks to UFPD for quickly responding and making sure everyone stayed safe.
Better safe than sorry. I’ve seen real guns disguised as toys
Whatever happened to the new open carry law? Oh….that;s right….no guns on school grounds (except for the mass shooting suspects). Apparently the snowflakes on campus don’t know the difference between a plastic squirt gun and a real gun.
Better safe then sorry though. Can you imagine if someone off their meds dressed up like a science fiction person and actually brought a real gun onto the school campus and hurt someone. The police would have never heard the end of it. So in tge end the police responded quickly and determined it a non threat and everyone went about their day.
it has an orange tip and obviously a toy lol people
