Staff report
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the Hatchet Creek Bridge on State Road 26 is closed due to flooding and damage from Hurricane Debby; the bridge is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.
Traffic is being detoured to either County Road 234 down to SE Hawthorne Road or to U.S. Hwy 301 to SE Hawthorne Road. Traffic on the west side is being directed to turn around and either go back to SE 43rd Street to SE Hawthorne Road or to NE Waldo Road.
Is anyone else wondering if a certain County Commissioner is going to be requesting mileage reimbursement or missing meetings due to the detour?
Where is hwy 310? Never heard of that one
Poor county commissioner Kenny C, will he be forced to commute via the abandoned, poor Hawthorne he voted against several years ago? What if his car breaks down in Grove Park and the Deliverance residents help change his tire? 😱😱
Hawthorn road is very nice…I just took the detour to palatka…it’s the highway to nowhere.
I have driven that road for more than 40 plus years. People drive like a bat out of Hell. Very scary 😨.
