Helene Update #18 – Waste collection update

Press release from Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Leveda Brown Environmental Park and the five Rural Collection Centers will reopen tomorrow, September 28, and be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents who typically receive waste collection services at their homes on Thursdays will have their waste collected this Saturday. Regular collection schedules and operating hours will resume next week.

  • How about the Friday people? We should be reimbursed every time we have to wait 2 weeks for trash and recycling because of storms.

    • Seems like a lot of effort to complain about your $6.35 a week for garbage when everyone is trying to get their garbage picked up after a hurricane. Largest cart is $330 a year/52 weeks. Don’t want to wait rural collections are open and are free to residents. Us people in the country just burn the tree limbs and don’t have to wait.
