High school student arrested after allegedly kicking parked car downtown, causing extensive damage

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ayden Luke Baudoin, 18, of High Springs, was arrested early yesterday morning and charged with felony property damage after allegedly kicking the door of a parked vehicle downtown, causing extensive damage.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reportedly witnessed the incident from outside the courthouse at about 5:40 a.m. on May 6; the deputy reported that Baudoin intentionally kicked the parked vehicle, causing an estimated $1,400 in damage. The deputy also reported that Baudoin kicked another vehicle that was parked next to the victim’s vehicle.

Post Miranda, Baudoin reportedly said his friends left him behind, and he kicked the second vehicle, which he thought was his friend’s vehicle, multiple times as an act of revenge. He denied kicking the victim’s vehicle.

The responding Gainesville Police Department officer noted that the damage to both vehicles was similar.

Baudoin, who told Court Services he is a high school student, has been charged with felony property damage. He has no criminal history, and Judge Adam Lee released him on his own recognizance with a requirement to report to Court Services today and to refrain from consuming alcohol or drugs.
