High Springs man dies after collision with deer

Staff report from Florida Highway Patrol release

NEWBERRY, Fla. – A 59-year-old High Springs man was killed last night after his car collided with a deer, hit a utility pole, and overturned.

At about 11:03 p.m. on October 30, the man was driving a sedan southbound on SR 45/U.S. Hwy 41 near NW 32nd Avenue when the car hit a deer. The car traveled onto the west shoulder, overturned, and hit a utility pole; the driver was ejected from the car and pronounced deceased at the scene. The man was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the release from Florida Highway Patrol.

  • The holidays are upon us and crazy deer, and drivers are out there.
Wear your seatbelt, it saves more lives than it loses.

      • Jazzman, I’ll +2 because for some reason, there are some who will disagree with you just because of your other opinions.

Maybe they’ve hit their head on the windshield a couple times too many.

  • Please, everyone, just buckle up!!! This might well have been a survivable crash if the driver hadn’t gone flying out of his vehicle… Seatbelts really, truly do save lives…
