High Springs shooting likely accidental, police say

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – On Friday, October 6, at approximately 1:40 a.m., the Combined Communications Center received a service call regarding a gunshot victim in the area of 25200 NW U.S. Hwy 27.
Shortly after High Springs Police Department officers arrived in the area, a victim was located with a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigative findings indicate that the shooting incident was accidental. A final disposition has yet to be reached.
Message to the future government of Springs County: Please allot some money to fund firearms safety classes for the ordinary citizens of Springs County. It appears they really need it.
