High Springs woman arrested with stolen handgun and sawed-off shotgun

ALACHUA, Fla. – Shahari Dakoda Strawder, 22, was arrested early this morning and charged with several gun- and drug-related felonies after an officer found a stolen handgun and a sawed-off shotgun in her car.

An Alachua Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a car driven by Strawder at about 4:00 a.m. this morning and reported that when he made contact with her, he saw a sawed-off shotgun in plain view on the rear floorboard of the car. A probable cause search of the car reportedly produced two more firearms, one of which had been reported stolen in Alachua, and several pills that require a prescription. The officer also reported that the serial number had been removed from the sawed-off shotgun, the barrel had been shortened with a saw or grinder, and the stock had been removed.

When the officer tried to place Strawder in handcuffs, she allegedly pulled away and tensed up. She reportedly had to be taken to the ground and restrained by multiple officers before officers were able to place her in handcuffs.

Strawder has been charged with possession of a short-barreled shotgun, grand theft of a firearm, removing the serial number of a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and resisting arrest without violence. She has one misdemeanor conviction for driving without a valid license; Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $72,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • She’s far past misdemeanor charges with this one. Let’s see if the SA’s office can file the paperwork on time…this time.

    • Again, the prosecutor needs sworn testimony to file charges. In this case it should be no problem because it will only need sworn testimony from the arresting officer as the arresting officer ostensibly saw the gun and other items as well as her resisting arrest

  • She is the perfect candidate to receive taxpayer funded job training as a butcher at the new Newberry Meat Processing Plant because gangsters should play with knives, not guns.

  • Nothing good was on the agenda at 4:00 AM. The weapons and illegal drugs, plus resisting arrest, paint a very sinister portrait. The arrest could have easily led to a fatality.

  • So sad what BETV and Hollyweird has done to America’s once quaint, wholesome rural towns. Everybody thinks their a diva or thug nowadays.

  • The number of people out there that think they can do whatever they want is growing daily. A true lawless sense of being with no regard for anyone. Not by happenstance, but by purposeful intentions to act lawlessly. Judge Curtain would have parked her under the jail.

  • Sister, that Looks like someone crapped on your head…looks like 4 big sh!ts…thats some powerful doo-doo hair.

  • Oh, my….this one doesn’t need guns to scare people to death. Yikes!
