Homeless Continuum of Care announces funding awards for upcoming fiscal year

Press release from TaskForce for Ending Homelessness
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – TaskForce for Ending Homelessness today announced conditional funding awards to eight organizations through its Emergency Shelter and Housing Stabilization Grants. These investments expand shelter options for families, increase access to recovery and employment pathways, strengthen housing stability, and support individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
Informed by feedback from the recent Family Homelessness Summit, the funding — allocated across three targeted categories established by the Continuum of Care Board — represents a strategic investment in solutions that advance long-term housing stability and economic self-sufficiency. These awards will serve residents throughout Alachua, Bradford, Dixie, Gilchrist, Levy, Putnam, and Union Counties.
Under this announcement, the Continuum of Care has awarded:
- $342,966 for emergency shelters, supporting families with children, survivors fleeing domestic violence, and individuals in need of temporary housing
- $823,119 for rapid rehousing, helping individuals quickly return to stable housing and reconnect to employment and earned income
- $205,779 for homelessness prevention, providing early intervention programs to keep families stable and avoid eviction
Residents in need of assistance or more information can dial 2-1-1, a local helpline operated by United Way of North Central Florida, to access available resources and support services.
TaskForce extends its appreciation to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Florida Department of Children and Families for its continued support in advancing these efforts across North Central Florida.

Good golly, where does all this money come from and is it ever audited?
Homelessness is big business!
Grifters apply for federal grants, give themselves nice paychecks, then give money to other bums and people who are not personally responsible…
10 year plan to end homelessness,? ha! Things have gotten worse here with their plan!
Can they get rid of the panhandling bums at Waldo road & 39th?
I shouldn’t see one panhandler at any intersection or a bum sleeping around town while taxpayers are funding Grace Marketplace…
According to the article, this money comes from federal HUD and FLDCF
Hopefully it’s for the truly homeless, and not repeat offenders and drug addicts just to give the courts and lawyers a mailing address for their caseloads.
So why is there a three year waiting list to find shelter for Section 8? Some of these empty apartments being built around town could shelter. Develop some more. Hurry.
Section 8 is a different federal piggy bank. Also, landlord has to be willing to accept it.
They need owner-occupied, deed restricted efficiency units and studios for single childless adults, to discourage breeding by min. wage unskilled youth. Period.

Can we have a breakdown of dollars spent by county and number of beds per capita?
