Homeless man accused of rape after allegedly giving drugs to victim

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Di’amonta Antwain Robinson, 31, was arrested yesterday and charged with sexual battery and possession of “molly” after a woman accused him of raping her in a tent.

The alleged rape happened on Saturday, when Robinson, the victim, and a witness were in a tent at an undisclosed location and Robinson reportedly gave the victim what she thought was marijuana. However, the victim said she began “feeling woozy” and lost consciousness; she said that when she woke up, Robinson was on top of her and attempting to have sex with her. She said she tried multiple times to get him to stop but was unsuccessful. The victim said the witness was next to her when this happened.

The witness reportedly said he saw Robinson on top of the victim, having sex with her, but he did not intervene. He reportedly said that he thought Robinson gave her “spice.”

Yesterday, a Gainesville Police Department officer located Robinson at the location where the alleged rape occurred and reportedly found “molly” in his pocket in a search incident to arrest.

Post Miranda, Robinson reportedly admitted being in the tent with the victim and the witness and smoking “weed” and “molly” with them. He reportedly said that he started having sex with the victim when the witness left the tent to get water. Robinson maintained that the sex was consensual.

Robinson has three felony convictions and was arrested in August of 2022 for trespassing at GRACE Marketplace; he had been trespassed from GRACE about a week before the arrest.
