Homeless man arrested for pointing gun at stranger at gas station

ALACHUA, Fla. – Tyler James Palatucci, 23, was arrested early this morning for allegedly pointing a gun at a stranger at a gas station in Alachua.
At about 1:56 a.m. on July 27, an Alachua Police Department officer responded to a call about an armed disturbance at the Circle K at 16070 U.S. Hwy 441 and reported that the victim said Palatucci had pointed a gun at him, causing him to fear for his safety.
A witness told the officer that she and the victim were arguing when Palatucci walked up and took her side in the argument; she said this led to an argument between the victim and Palatucci, and Palatucci brandished a gun and threatened the victim. She said she was able to get Palatucci to calm down, and he even gave her his firearm for a moment, but he eventually got into a white sedan and drove away.
The officer reported that while he was speaking with the witness, a white sedan entered the parking lot, and the officer ordered the driver to show his hands; the driver, later identified as Palatucci, allegedly reached back into the vehicle instead of showing his hands, so the officer pushed him to the ground and detained him in handcuffs.
A search incident to arrest reportedly produced a .38 Special revolver and six rounds of ammunition in his pocket. The officer noted that Palatucci seemed to be extremely intoxicated.
Post Miranda, Palatucci reportedly denied ever being in an argument with the victim or removing his gun from his waistband. When the officer asked how the victim and witness would have known he had a gun, he reportedly said they must have seen it through his shirt; however, the officer noted that he had been unable to see Palatucci’s firearm through his shirt, “due to how deep the firearm was concealed in his waistband.”
On the way to the jail, Palatucci reportedly admitted that he had argued with the victim, but he still denied pointing his gun at the victim; he said, however, that he took his gun out of his waistband “in order to make the witness more comfortable whilst he took an Uber with her.”
Palatucci, who is described as homeless in the arrest report, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has an unspecified criminal history in Arizona from 2021 to 2025; Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $25,000.

looks like Tyler James Palatucci got some free “Diesel Therapy” from AZ to the GSSR. I wonder why could have possible attracted him all the way from AZ to the GSSR could it be the giant hobo magnet on 39th Ave Grace?
Why is it those people looking for a ‘home’ always find their ‘homes’ in Gainesville? Don’t answer that—many of us know why. The problem is—there’s a majority who would rather be guilted into virtue signaling than face the practical realities of local governance, high costs of housing, and tax policies.
If all those virtue-conscious people were willing to open their own doors to house them, it might be a different story. But it’s always easier to vote for higher taxes and mandates when someone else is picking up the tab.

Was this firearm legally acquired? Did Law Enforcement confiscate the weapon? Was this person also charged with DUI?
In this case, for this individual, “the right to bear arms” is WRONG.
This judge has shown a compete lack of concern for firearm crime and criminals. Convicted felons with guns are not less dangerous than other crimes like B&E arson, battery, etc. And reading poems doesn’t work either. Bail @ $25,000 is an insult to the victim and others in the vicinity.
