Homeless man arrested for stabbing man, choking woman at GRACE Marketplace

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Luvmarr D’layy Hamby, 20, was arrested early this morning for allegedly stabbing a man and choking a woman at GRACE Marketplace.
A few minutes after midnight, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to GRACE Marketplace (3055 NE 28th Drive), where they found a man on the ground, covered in blood. The victim said he had been stabbed and felt “blood going into his lungs.” After he was transported to the hospital, the victim reportedly said he had been defending a friend who was fighting with Hamby, and when he intervened, Hamby stabbed him. The victim reportedly had wounds on his chest, shoulder, and arm.
Officers reportedly found a knife at the scene, and a witness reportedly said he had seen Hamby with the knife.
A woman told an officer that about an hour before the stabbing incident, Hamby choked her, impeding her breathing; the officer reported that she had significant bruising on her neck. The woman said she had known Hamby for about two days and had been sexually intimate with him.
Post Miranda, Hamby reportedly said he didn’t have much to say and then declined to say anything else.
Hamby, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has no local criminal history. Judge Sheree Lancaster ordered him held without bail, pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.

I’ll keep repeating this. Type the word homeless into the search box above and you can see hundreds of rapes, robberies, and attacks going back years. What you never see is the city of Gainesville solving this problem.
I hate to tell you but this is the city’s goal. If the crime is occurring at GRACE then it is not occurring elsewhere. That’s why they allow drug dealing and prostitution and who knows what else to happen in broad daylight out there- as long as they keep it on the compound. The people who truly suffer the most are the homeless at GRACE who are truly trying to get right.

How can you be living at Grace market at 20 years old?Someone failed this young man bad.
He failed himself….he needs to take personal responsibility for his actions…he got himself in his situation…you can control your destiny…good things happen to good people. Some people are liars. He’s a fool.
What did this kid do to be homeless at 20? Most likely got addicted to some kind of drug, stole everything he could get his hands on where ever he was staying, probably got violent with a close friend or family member at some point to get money for drugs and wore out his welcome. At that point even friends and family won’t help because they know he has sticky hands, a violent temper, and can’t be trusted. It is very sad … but one person’s rock bottom is not the same for another. Maybe this will be his rock bottom. You can only hope.
But it says he’s never been in trouble there’s kids there at grace right now that aged out of the system
Some people don’t have a roof over their heads for a reason.
And the savages keep coming to Gainesville. It may be time to get the heck out of here.

they need to tighten security because we’re having a “homeless crime emergency crisis”… the city manager is not doing a good job running the city…..we need a cap on vagrancy at Grace & on our streets at any time.

Grace is the place!….for the homeless revolving door criminals,drug addicts, .and mentally ill. And….soon MORE will be coming to the two converted bum motels on 13th street. Should get real interesting in midtown this fall. Our seasonal educated snowflakes are in for a real treat.
They r actually going to be renting those rooms to those bums I have no choice but to be at that crap hole I’ve seen my fair of share of idiots over the yrs not that it’s an excuse but they r short staffed most of the workers r only there for a pay check not the homeless
