Homeless man charged with theft of golf cart and numerous burglaries

BY JENNIFER CABRERA
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Michael Timothy Redic, 23, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, was arrested yesterday evening and charged with golf cart theft. Burglary and theft charges were added later in the evening.
Royal Park Village Apartments reported the theft of the golf cart yesterday around 6:00 p.m. and told a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officer that Redic was last seen driving the golf cart toward P.K. Yonge. The officer found Redic driving the golf cart on SW 6th Street, at which point Redic allegedly tried to flee but was apprehended.
Post Miranda, Redic reportedly said he was returning the golf cart, which he had taken because he needed to go to the grocery store for his girlfriend. Redic reportedly said that he asked a “random guy” if he could use the golf cart, but the man did not respond.
Later in the evening, Redic was also charged with a vehicle burglary that happened outside Oak South Pawn, where Redic is well-known as a regular customer (the report notes that he has visited almost every other day for the past five months). The witness told GPD that Redic had been upset that the store would not take a Shop-Vac, then went outside and tried the door handle of a minivan; after finding that the door opened and going back into the store to make sure the owner of the van was occupied, he allegedly took a jackhammer from the inside of the van and put it in the car of an unknown person, then drove away with that person.
Redic was also charged with theft from an acquaintance; he knocked on the victim’s door at 5:30 a.m. and asked if he could leave some backpacks there. He then left through the back door, which the victim forgot to lock after he left. The victim said he came home after work and found his apartment burglarized; he provided Redic’s name as a possible suspect, and Redic allegedly tried to pawn one of the stolen items the next day at Oaks South Pawn. The backpacks reportedly contained items stolen in burglaries at The Retreat Apartments. The report says that more charges are expected to be filed.
Redic has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, trafficking stolen property, and fraudulently pawning an item under $300. He also has five other cases of misdemeanor theft currently pending. He is being held on a combined $20,000 bail.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Stay WOKE y’all
He’s getting him some Gainesville’s Riches At Citizens’ Expense (GRACE).
This night rat is an unfortunate product of no early guidance or parental leadership. He needs help in a locked up environment.
Grace Marketplace…”bringing climate change refugees from around the world to a single family neighborhood near you”. —If they can’t keep ‘em out of the median by 39th & Waldo, then we’re doomed.
The city manager needs to address GPD and instruct them to start making arrests if the climate change neighbors are caught panhandling in the street medians…give ‘em an inch, they’ll take a yard. Next thing you know, this liberal bunch of loonies on the GNV CC will let them set up tents on the sidewalks in front of businesses around town and in the parks because “housing is a right”. We need to build a wall around the city like how Brandon is using tax money to put up a fence around his beach house.
With all the crime originating from Grace,
Why does the city and county continue to fund that place?
It’s not about the color of anyone’s face,
Neither is it solely because of a person’s race.
Obviously the taxpayers’ funds are being severely misplaced.
Time for citizens to demand local government stop trying to cover it in lace…
Do our community a favor and close Grace Marketplace.
Was Uncle Dad proud of your rhyme?
“Wasn’t that bad,”
Said your dad.
Actually rang true,
Except to people like you.
No wonder there’s hardly a place,
Where you don’t wear a mask to hide your face.
Yeah, that one sucked too.
Shut GRACE down! It’s very bad for our fair community. Cruel to encourage people to stay here with “support services” just to oil the Dem machine of 3% voters.
Not everyone who lists Grace as their residence actually stays there. Some folks just need an address to receive mail. Or do you not want them to get mail either?
They should either go to a rehab center, in preparation to return to the workforce, or a mental institution. They should no longer be on the street at all. At least not in Gainesville.
I’d probably be less likely to send the men in the white coats to pick up those vagrants who were orderly and respectful, though (those who hadn’t started committing crimes). There’s a big difference, obviously.
Wizard-level insight, as always.
You could start a mailbox service for the homeless, Kenny. Then they wouldn’t have to go all the way down to the Grace badlands to get their mail. Tell them to have their mail sent to your residence, c/o Kenny Powers. You can let them use your bathroom, shower, etc. while they are at your place to get their mail. Doesn’t that sound really good?
You really hate doing stuff yourself, huh? Let us know how it looks from the sidelines.
No, I’m just highlighting the fact that those on the left like to virtue signal and run their mouths, but when it’s time to actually DO something (especially if it costs them anything), they are the LAST to step up to the plate. It’s part of the mental disorder.
