Homeless sexual offender arrested for Archer robbery

Staff report

ARCHER, Fla. – Cuncy Lee Dillards II, 35, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly pulling a man from his vehicle and taking his money.

At about 11:45 a.m. on May 1, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the corner of SW 170th Street and SW 143rd Avenue in Archer and made contact with two men in a vehicle that was parked in a church driveway.

The victim said he had been robbed by a man whose nickname is “Tank” while sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. He said “Tank” opened the door of the vehicle and pulled him out, punching him and grabbing at his pockets. He said “Tank” took about $100 in cash from him and ripped his shirt and pants before leaving northbound on SW 170th Street; he said “Tank” was possibly homeless and hung out north of the intersection.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly said he was talking with the victim when “Tank” opened the door, entered the vehicle, and started hitting and pulling the victim before taking the money.

Witnesses in the area reported that they heard an argument and then saw a man walk away; they described the man and said his nickname is “Tank.” One of the witnesses said the victim told him that “Tank” had taken money from his pocket.

An anonymous caller to the Alachua County Communications Center reportedly said “Tank” was at “the shed” at the corner of SW 170th Terrace and SW 128th Place, but a deputy who went to that area did not find him. The deputy spoke again with the caller, who said “Tank” had run into the woods when deputies arrived. Deputies instructed “Tank” to come out of the woods, and he came out and said he goes by “Tank,” but his name is Cuncy Dillards.

Deputies reportedly found a metal straw with burnt ends and a burnt copper scouring pad in Dillards’ pockets and arrested him for possession of drug paraphernalia.

After a witness to the robbery positively identified Dillards in a photo lineup, he was charged with unarmed robbery and burglary with battery. Dillards has seven felony convictions (one sexual) and six misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); he has served three state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2023. He is a registered sexual offender who is listed as “transient” with the Department of Corrections. Judge Adam Lee ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • If people of alauchua County would exercise there second amendment rights, I wonder how much of this nonsense would stop its clear that the elected officials don’t give a dam about the taxpayers. They encourage this type of trash to hang around I have a strong feeling after putting several down they would get a message. Don’t mess with people don’t steal from people. You have a right in state of Florida to carry a gun and use it to protect yourself.
