Homeless woman arrested for attacking man at Wawa

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Isis Imani Hines, 18, was arrested last night and charged with felony battery and criminal mischief after allegedly attacking a man because of a dispute over a charging outlet.

At about 10:45 p.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the Wawa at 2305 NW 13th Street in response to a call about a man lying in a pool of blood. Witnesses told officers that the 63-year-old victim had been sitting outside the store on a bench, charging his phone. Hines reportedly arrived on a bicycle and asked the man to remove his phone from the outlet; when he refused, she became angry, disconnected his phone, and plugged in her phone. She then allegedly punched the man in the face multiple times, then continued to punch and kick him as he fell to the ground and curled up. She also allegedly smashed his cell phone. The victim reportedly had multiple cuts and injuries to his face; the officers reported blood spatter along the wall and a pool of blood next to the victim, who was transported to an emergency room.

One of the witnesses who saw the incident followed Hines as she rode away on her bike, assisting officers in locating Hines in the 700 block of NW 23rd Avenue.

Post Miranda, Hines reportedly said she got mad, removed the victim’s phone, and plugged in her phone, which started an argument; she said the argument turned physical when the victim grabbed her shirt near the collar area and she threw his beer bottle. She reportedly said she got off her bicycle, “charged at him,” and hit him in the face; they both fell down, but she punched the victim again, adding, “I know I should’ve walked away at that point.” She reportedly admitted breaking the victim’s phone.

About one gram of marijuana was reportedly found in a search incident to arrest, adding a charge of possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.

Hines entered into a deferred prosecution agreement on January 25, 2023, for firing a weapon in public. That agreement has now been revoked, and she will be re-arraigned on the charge; charges of marijuana possession and tampering with evidence were dropped as part of the agreement.

Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $10,100 on the most recent charges.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • It’s very important to remember that about 80-90% of the homeless in America choose this lifestyle. They don’t want to pay rent, they don’t want responsibilities, they want to do their drugs freely and in the open…and they want to do it all on your dime and out of the goodness of your heart. This “compassion model” for the homeless is quickly turning large swaths of this country into something that more resembles a 3rd World country. If the homeless don’t want to work or contribute anything to society then that’s on them, but we have to stop enabling these people who manipulate many of you into feeding them and clothing them and housing them, all the while expecting no change of lifestyle or behavior in return.

    • By far the most ignorant statement ever!!! What in the world makes you think they don’t want to work? When Covid hit I became homeless BUT I still worked and tried to find housing! Things became super expensive. My child had school online I had to find child care so, things became hard! Please end that dumb ssa narrative about homeless people don’t want to work. There are many factors including Mental, Substance abuse etc…. Be mindful because the God/universe will certainly humble you!

  • When will the left wing woke citizens of Gainesville realize it’s time to close market place encourage the homeless to move on it’s every day where they have hit, stolen, broken in to homes of hard working taxpayers enough is enough

  • These homeless people seem to have found a home with free electricity. Real shame seeing as we have to pay for ours. Maybe Wawa & other businesses should start charging for the use of an outlet.

I’m fairly confident the guy she beat up was homeless and it’s unfortunate he wasn’t able to put her down…one way or another.

    • I do like the “free air” at wawa and I’m not a bum…I think the free air is cool…

  • Here goes Jaworski again contributing to the crime problem in Gainesville with his stupid-low bonds that reach Walter Green territory. This was a very violent attack, committed by this girl/guy who obviously has no conscience.
I’m sure if Jaworski himself, or someone he cared for was beaten in similar fashion the bond would be substantially higher.

  • Wow 🥺 so sorry this man has experienced this. She needs her ass blistered. And so sorry the focus hasn’t been in the victim versus that a homeless woman committed a terrible painful act.. especially over an outlet. I also wish the focus would not be why you do pay for something others don’t versus fight the entities on their own BEHALF

    • Claudio, some can’t/don’t/want to see the correlation between some of the homeless population their elected leaders keep inviting to Gainesville & the crimes in the community. If that includes you, you’re part of the problem.

  • Voting is a meaningless gesture from meaningless people who live a meaningless life. You Republicans make me crack up. You do the exact opposite of what your made up God told you to do.

    • Then why do so many cry baby liberals falsely claim it’s being taken away? It’s what their/your idiotic leaders have led you to believe.
It’s also one of those things that are so envied by other peoples around the globe. (Not all people come here for the free stuff.) They want to contribute to society, not be a burden on it. Those usually come by the proper legal methods.
As far as things being “made-up,” you may want to stick to things more in line with your ideologies. Covid, global warming, guns shoot people…

  • So this girl got $10k bond even tho she was already on pre-trial deferment and she literally beat someone bloody. The guy who brandished a gun at a McDonalds and did not point it or hurt anyone, with no criminal history, got $25K bond. SAME JUDGE. That seems ridiculous.
