Homeless woman arrested for stabbing another woman with a box cutter

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Joyce Ann Lewis, 30, who lists her address as GRACE Marketplace, was arrested early this morning and charged with aggravated battery after allegedly cutting another woman with a box cutter.
The victim told a Gainesville Police Department Officer that Lewis hit her with a closed fist before pulling out a box cutter and cutting her at least five times. The incident happened in the 200 block of NE Waldo Road, where the victim has been sleeping.
Post Miranda, Lewis reportedly said the victim pulled her out of a car and stabbed her; she also reportedly said the victim told her she was going to stab herself to get Lewis arrested. Lewis had one cut on her leg. A witness corroborated the victim’s account.
Lewis has 10 violent felony convictions and is being held on $5,000 bail.

A legit crack baby
I know her. She threatened me and a elderly woman where we lived. We were hiding in my bedroom. She’s a big woman. She could have knocked the door down and killed both of us. Her 3rd or 4th baby was just taken by DCF. We had no help from the people that placed her in the safe house for women. I’m thankful we made it with no issues. I left a week ago. Then this. She needs a state hospital for sure.
I agree but they would kick her ass out of there to… I know her personally… sad case. barely any family foster child troubled past
Think that’s an unfair and irresponsible statement to say the “people” that placed her there did nothing.
She not a crack baby she just has mental illness just like other people in there you should not judge people of that nature she needs a home for her mental illness not a shelter

Grace Marketplace? Just a Dignity Village spin-off with more drugs, thugs, and lazy losers that will not help themselves. An attraction for criminals and homeless from the whole southeast. There’s been people arrive there saying they heard about it in New Mexico and got rides to get there. Best bet. Close it down. Go another 10 miles out and put up tents and keep it supplied with fresh water, nothing else; then, be done with it. It will shrink in no time. Within a year the exodus will have gone elsewhere to load.
Yeah, but there’s some real mental illness out there…
There’s nothing we can do now…there’s too many of them and the cops can’t do anything. Enlarge the jail to accommodate the influx of new vagrants & lock up the repeat criminal offenders…then put them on work release or send them back to their hometowns. It’s poor leadership by elected officials & our Mayor & city manager that has allowed this to happen.
