Homeless woman arrested for trying to steal a car at knifepoint on test drive

ALACHUA, Fla. – Claudia L. Ramirez, 32, was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and property damage after allegedly pulling a knife during a test drive in an attempt to steal a car.
At about 1:15 p.m. yesterday, Ramirez was on a test drive in a vehicle from a business in Alachua, accompanied by an employee of the business. She allegedly drove through a stop sign without stopping and then pulled a knife on the employee, demanding that he get out of the vehicle.
The victim was able to get the knife away from her and received a small cut in the process. Ramirez allegedly started hitting the windshield and side window with a hard object, damaging the vehicle.
Ramirez has no local criminal history; law enforcement listed her as homeless and was unable to verify her identity, residence, or employment except to note that she was born in Mexico. Court documents have a notation for an ICE hold. Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $7,000.

She probably got off one of those Greyhound busses with the Texas license plates that have been rolling into Gainesville all summer long. Why isn’t John Law there to meet them instead of letting them in to become a danger to the local citizens?
