Press release from Alachua County
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County Community Support Services, in collaboration with community faith-based organizations, invites the community to attend “Honoring the Departed” on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery (401 SE 21st Ave., Gainesville).
Honoring the Departed is a ceremony to memorialize indigent individuals who were unclaimed, abandoned, or unknown. The memorial is a means to honor those who were buried with no service. The ceremony will consist of inspirational readings and songs to honor those who passed away in 2023.

How many are we talking about?
We just had the fake indigent day, held on Columbus Day (a Federal holiday).
Indigenous and Indigent are 2 different things usually. Indigenous meaning Native Americans, Indigent meaning Poor.
Is it accidental that this coincides with the RC church’s “All Souls’ Octave” Nov 1-8 during which one must visit a cemetary to obtain plenary indulgences? https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/liturgicalyear/calendar/day.cfm?date=2024-11-07
