GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At about 5:30 p.m. on January 2, Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire off SW 57th Road; the house was declared a total loss. However, the swift and dedicated response of local firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring homes and properties, minimizing damage and ensuring the safety of surrounding residents.
The fire quickly engulfed the residence, prompting a large response from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue. Despite the extensive damage to the structure, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the home of origin, avoiding any significant extension to adjacent properties.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire officials. Emergency services will continue to monitor the situation and provide support to affected residents. No injuries were reported during the incident. Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to change your batteries in your smoke detectors every six months for ultimate efficiency.
