I-75 southbound remains closed at CR 234 after highway violence incident

MICANOPY, Fla. – As of 10:30 p.m., I-75 has been closed in the southbound direction at mile marker 374 (CR 234, Micanopy) for over 3.5 hours. According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, the closure is due to an earlier highway violence incident. Motorists should seek alternate routes until further notice.

    • DH, I saw a Pic of a silver car that had crime scene tape around it and it appeared the drivers door was smashed in

  • Apparently involved officer involved shooting where FHP trooper shot suspect after suspect hit multiple cars being pursued. Hopefully all involved minus suspect are safe and uninjured. FDLE is investigating so probably be very little information released.

  • The term “Highway violence incident” is vague and invokes broad speculation. Call it what it is: “Trooper involved shooting after multi vehicle crash”.

  • Someone left their good manners at home, look what happened.
