I-75 traffic stop yields 28 pounds of methamphetamines in suitcase lining
Staff report
MICANOPY, Fla. – Cedric Jabbar Lamb, 47, of Tampa, was arrested yesterday morning after a traffic stop on I-75 reportedly yielded 28 pounds of methamphetamines in a suitcase lining.
At about 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, a Gainesville Police Department officer working with the 8th Judicial Circuit – Domestic Highway Enforcement Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Expedition for following too closely and failing to maintain a lane near mile marker 374 on southbound I-75.
The officer reported that Lamb was the driver of the vehicle, and there were three juvenile male passengers; he reported that he smelled fresh marijuana as soon as he made contact with Lamb. Lamb reportedly said he did not smoke marijuana and there was no marijuana in the vehicle. Based on the probable cause of the smell of marijuana, the officer searched Lamb and the vehicle after placing Lamb in the rear seat of his patrol car with the door open and another officer standing by the patrol car.
The officer reportedly found several small pieces of marijuana “shake” on the front passenger floorboard; when he started to search the vehicle’s trunk, Lamb allegedly forced his way out of the patrol car and ran toward the Expedition with the apparent intent of fleeing in the vehicle.
The officers reportedly grabbed him and struggled with him for about three minutes; the first officer pepper-sprayed him, and the second officer deployed her taser and then dropped the taser while the officers continued struggling with Lamb. Lamb allegedly picked up the taser, but the first officer reportedly regained control of it and threw it out of reach. After Lamb was placed in handcuffs and into the patrol car, he allegedly kept trying to push past the officers and flee.
The officer found several backpacks in the rear of the vehicle that reportedly belonged to the juveniles and contained no contraband. A suitcase reportedly contained clothing that appeared to belong to Lamb, and hidden behind the liners of the suitcase were four large vacuum-sealed bags of crystal methamphetamine, totaling about 12,721 grams or 28 pounds. The officer estimated that the street value of the narcotics would be at least $50,000.
Lamb has been charged with trafficking in amphetamines and resisting an officer without violence. He has 23 felony convictions (one violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions (one violent); he has served two state prison sentences for drug trafficking and racketeering, with his most recent release in 2021. Judge Aymer “Buck” Curtin set bail at $105,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Looks like those illegal drugs aren’t just coming through the southern border.
23 felony CONVICTIONS! Should have deployed a couple 124 grain JCPs after he tried to take the Taser. Wouldn’t have to burden our overworked judicial system.
No don’t kill him…he’s just a do boy…keep him alive and force him to provide info about those he works for. Any washed up felon using children to move 28 pounds of meth is working for an organization.
I’m sure it came through the southern border. That dude is in trouble from both sides of the law.
36 convictions and two prison stays proves that he doesn’t get it and is not able to be rehabilitated especially since he got juveniles involved. Culling may be the answer. But the supplier may take care of that for society.
“her” taser
Yet another pretexual traffic stop in DeSatan’s police state.
Dude. This guy is bad and poisoning people & our society.
Good job officers of getting this felon scumbag off our streets.
Pretex stops are not illegal
Paulie, why support abortion?
Your condoning of illegal drug trafficking will kill enough children.
Paulie, tell us you’re a liberal without telling us you’re a liberal….if you ACTUALLY paid attention, these LAWFUL stops have been going on for decades, including when Democrat governors were in office. If someone is tailgating at a high rate of speed, that is aggressive and possibly reckless driving. Only when the officer walked up to the car and smelled marijuana is when the traffic stop took a different turn. Since you feel threatened to live here, feel free to move to a different state that better aligns with your liberal views.
You sound like a slow brain
Great…..we should also have stop and frisk.
Your just mad you didn’t get your meth for the week.
Besides that the arresting officer is not a DeSantis police officer. He is employed by your Liberal city of Gainesville and is assigned to a drug task force. So the liberal city who be the one at fault since they employ the officer. Maybe you should contact Ward and the gang.
I guess your ok with drugs coming in just like the rest of the democrats
Your ignorance is overwhelming!
Another lifetime of grooming by public attorneys (many drug kingpins too).
“He has 23 felony convictions (one violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions (one violent); he has served two state prison sentences for drug trafficking and racketeering, with his most recent release in 2021.” 👿👺👹🤡💩ACLUSPLCDNC
Career criminal needs serious prison time. Doesn’t belong in society.
yet another low bail. His “boss” will bail him out and make sure that he is disappeared.
“He has 23 felony convictions (one violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions (one violent); he has served two state prison sentences for drug trafficking and racketeering, ”
Bingo! We have another card carrying member of the ‘get out of jail card and resume law breaking’ club. Put him in the jail and give two election ballots to ensure he has received enough equity.
Judge Buck Curtain is one of the best. Thanks for keeping the trash were it belongs: behind bars.
Put this trash and other fuels in the biomass incinerator & generate electricity…
Your zero waste by 2050.
…… sounds like the same Secret Service officer President Trump had ‘guarding’ him. Dangerous for everybody. DEI?
DEI is why Trump was almost assassinated. These cops did a good job catching this POS.
