Democrats LOVE spending OTHER people’s $.
Thanks to the Chronicle for adding the editors note pointing out the false premise of the cartoon.
The money still came out of the taxpayer’s pocket.
So true. Cornell’s ‘covert’ agendas are often hidden behind a pile of BS doublespeak. Even he has to get on a milk crate to see through it all.
Thanks Jake! Maybe the cartoon will help the simple-minded see through his contortion of priorities.

Some research would have benefited Mr. Fuller’s cartoon. No Infrastructure Surtax dollars were used on the two motel conversion projects. And the roads section of the tax is part of a quarter of a billion dollar, ten-year pavement management plan. And the jury is in – the housing first model actually is less of a financial drain on tax dollars then the constant reaction to people living on the streets.
But as you openly state it is still a financial drain on the taxpayers. No matter how much or how little.
Cornell implied otherwise at the ribbon cutting.

Sorry….but the virtue signaling has ongoing ‘costs’ you failed to mention. With the increase in homeless criminals, mentally ill, and drug addicts there will be (already happening) an increase in crime and harassment of working and paying customers. This can’t be good for the new ‘streetery. In addition, the miscreants you encourage to come here are not going to keep up the motels and the taxpayers will have to fix and repair their boondoggles.
The fires in our city were man-made [not lightning] and most likely the result of homeless camp fires.
Hey Alachua county,
instead of inviting and making the vagrants a permanent feature here, can you keep them from panhandling in the street medians and teach them how to pick up after themselves?
What’s up with that? …you can’t fix that one public safety issue ? It’s part of police, fire, parks, & roads…
We should be safe from criminals and their activities,
We shouldn’t see panhandlers and bums loitering, prowling, stealing, …
I have lost confidence in you…
Are these public properties? Do we the right to be on the grounds (not inside the units) to examine their condions?
Democrats love to deceive….and…..they are quite good at it.

Mr Fuller, providing stable housing should be a society’s first obligation. Followed by food security. Universal healthcare should be normal, instead of for profit healthcare. Drug problems? Greedy people provide them. Americans buy them.
And on a personal level – You sir, are an ass.
There you have it — a perfect example of champagne $oci@li$m. It is a bold stance to demand ‘universal’ systems while the very professors and institutions ‘teaching’ these ideals are charging $250k entry fees and operating like corporate conglomerates that depend on capitalism for their way of life. It’s always easy for some to advocate for others footing the bill for ‘society’s obligations’.
How appropriate I have to use $ just to put the word on a particular medium.
You should open your home to them, Komrade.
It’s my responsibility to house & feed myself Dave, it’s not your responsibility..
It’s not my responsibility to house and feed you Dave, that’s your responsibility…
If you take care of you, and if I take care of me, the system works…
Personal responsibility is the key!
The way you think is a tick on society…
Our society is a jungle Dave,
Law of the jungle…
You’re increasing our carbon footprint and adding to global warming by perpetuating homelessness…
Homelessness is big biz 💸 Dave.
Sad, but true. We live in times when leaders promote the Common Bad, not the Good. Because their campaign donors depend on that money. 👹🤡💩👺👿
Maybe Jake should try Claude or ChatGtp…or turn on his thinking cap before mocking things he knows nothing about.
• A 2021 study found that Housing First programs decreased homelessness by 88% and improved housing stability by 41% compared to “Treatment First” programs.
• In a four-year randomized controlled trial in Santa Clara County, 86% of people experiencing chronic homelessness assigned to a Housing First program were successfully housed, compared to only 36% in the control group.
The cost-effectiveness case:
• Every dollar invested in Housing First programs results in about $1.44 in cost savings , largely by reducing emergency room visits, jail stays, and ambulance use.
• For the highest-need individuals, every $10 invested in Housing First services resulted in an average savings of $21.72.
• The median program cost is around $16,500 per person per year — often less than the cost of cycling the same person through jails, ERs, and shelters.
The AI output is far less persuasive when one eliminate studies funded or conducted by economically conflicted groups that are part of the Homeless, Inc. industry. Alternative views feel transitioning a person from free permanent government housing condition classified as ‘homeless’ (Grace Marketplace) to free permanent government housing classified as ‘transitional’ has little effect beyond increasing the cost of the housing to the government.
Rock on Fuller!!
Mr Fuller is a very angry man. His comics read like a cry for help. I hope he can get help and find some peace.
The occupants are supposed to provide 30% of their income toward rent. What income???? As one goofball said: “30% of zero is zero”. As one goofball said: Many will live there for years”. Within 6 months the place will be another Grace Marketplace.
AND….so much closer to UF, Shands, and downtown. What’s not to like?
Yeah, I’m with Jake. I want my tax dollars to go to free land in the dead center of downtown Miami worth $360 million given by the state to Trump’s Presidential Library, $400 billion given by state on no bid contracts to GOP donors to build Alligator Auschwitz, $10 million to the Gov’s wife to spend promoting a position on a constituional, amendment, and who knows how much flying new immigrants to Martha’s Vinyard on a free vacation, the Governor’s use of his plane and other state property on his camoaigning, and on and on and on.
Jake’s not a conservative, he’s a GOP hatchet man with a dull axe.
