Jacksonville man arrested for stabbing co-worker in Alachua

ALACHUA, Fla. – Jason Lamar Jones, 50, of Jacksonville, was arrested yesterday in Alachua for allegedly stabbing a co-worker at a work site in Alachua.
At about 1:33 p.m. on February 26, an Alachua Police Department officer responded to a work site where Jones, who works for a temporary employment agency, had gotten into a physical fight with a co-worker. The victim said he tried to intervene in the fight, and Jones reached for the victim’s work knife and screwdriver; another co-worker tried to stop Jones from grabbing the victim’s knife, but Jones allegedly grabbed it and cut the victim’s back several times.
Jones has been charged with aggravated battery and robbery by sudden snatching. He told Court Services that he has been in the area for about two months; he has 13 felony convictions (three violent) and eight misdemeanor convictions (four violent), and he has served six state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2021. He has a Notice to Appear out of Alachua County for driving without a valid license. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $50,000.

Now that’s the kind of employee you might want to do without. If I was the employee stabbed I would consider suing the employer for putting the employees at risk by hiring this POS.
I’d say this is just the type of employee the City of Gainesville wants to see hired to reacclimate him into society — it just doesn’t want to be the employer doing the hiring.
Their hypocrisy has limits.
