ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Rushunn Linell Davis, 21, an inmate at the Alachua County Jail, was charged with felony battery with fluids on a detention facility employee after allegedly throwing feces at a detention officer.
The responding Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that he viewed video from Davis’ cell, and the video showed Davis standing nude by his closed cell door and reaching into the toilet at one point; he held something in his hand until the detention officer and trustee approached. The video reportedly showed the detention officer opening the slot on the cell door to give Davis his breakfast, then Davis allegedly threw something through the slot, striking the detention officer in the leg.
The deputy reported that the detention officer had a stain on the leg of his pants and that there were feces on the floor outside Davis’ cell.
Davis reportedly told the deputy that the detention officer threatened him at about 3:00 a.m. and that he threw feces because he was afraid.
Davis has been in the jail since November 2021 on charges from an alleged armed robbery. His previous bail was $450,000, and $10,000 bail was added on the new charge.
