Jason Bellamy-Fults announces candidacy for Senate District 6, pledges to advocate for Florida’s working families

Press release from Jason Bellamy-Fults for Florida Senate District 6

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Local civic leader and working class advocate Jason Bellamy-Fults is officially announcing his candidacy for Florida’s 6th Senate District. Bellamy-Fults’ candidacy launches amidst affordability crises in Florida. He is fighting for higher wages and lower cost of living for working Floridians, and against Tallahassee corruption and continuing attacks on local control.

Bellamy-Fults announced his candidacy at a recent standing-room-only Alachua County Democratic Party event featuring Florida’s newest state Senator, Brian Nathan, and Gainesville City Commissioner James Ingle, both fellow members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Sen. Nathan has proudly endorsed Jason’s campaign, and Commissioner Ingle looks forward to having another champion for the working class in the Florida legislature.

Jason’s website, takingbackflorida.org, launched today and highlights his civic contributions to North Central Florida and past work on energy affordability, housing, and workers’ rights. Bellamy-Fults came out swinging, asserting, “It’s a privilege to represent the people of this state, not an entitlement. And I can tell you that many of the members of my community do not feel represented by the incumbent. The working families of this district deserve someone who will listen and take action on their concerns.”

Bellamy-Fults’s campaign has been greeted with enthusiasm by others throughout District 6. Clay County resident Jackie Cetnar celebrated Jason’s candidacy, stating that she was “…excited to have a candidate that is interested in lowering costs for families, affordable healthcare, protecting democracy, and strengthening community infrastructure.” Terry Behle of Gilchrist County focused on Jason’s bio: “Jason’s sense of civic duty is well reflected in his bio, and he should prove great competition for the incumbent.” And Baker County residents were enthused about his emphasis on local control, with Carmen Thompson stating: “Our community is growing. With Jason Bellamy-Fults, we can grow in the right direction.”

Jason also welcomed the support of fellow legislative challenger Amy Trask, running for Florida House District 22: “Jason understands the squeeze working families are feeling because he sees it and has lived it. He’s spent his life fighting to make sure every person has a seat at the table, and is protected, and he’s running for the Florida Senate to bring that same common‑sense, working‑class leadership to Tallahassee. He’s not in this for headlines – he’s in it for the people who keep this state running, and he’ll fight every day to make sure they’re heard, respected, and protected.”

  • “Taking back Florida” implies we were better off before the influx of more illegals, more pronouns and more shiny new downtown courthouses… or does he mean something else? 👿💩🤡👹👺

  • puke!!! He lacks the sense to do the right thing! He is also way too arrogant for the seat and will only do what he has an agenda to do. And that would be to force the green machine.

  • Working Families … aka Working families party …. aka extremely leftwing party that has more in common with the CCP than with the USA.

  • Finally! Someone who knows what it’s like to work for a living and who’s going to put working people first!

  • I’ve known Jason for a quarter century, going back to antiwar organizing we did together during his time in Philadelphia. I’m incredibly excited to see Jason becoming a candidate for office! We need more people like Jason.
