What the heck is an “open board discussion?”
That’s what the County Commission calls their policy meetings. It’s an opportunity to have an “open discussion” about something that does not rise to the level of being placed on a regular or special meeting agenda. They typically do not vote on the items discussed in these meetings, but that’s not a hard-and-fast rule.
Taxpayers getting hosed department.
Over and over the cheerleaders for the World Masters track meet said “Alachua County is not putting this on and the County is not paying for it.” Lies.
Bankrupt Celebration Pointe Svein Dyrkolbotn said he would pay for it. Not.
On Tuesday’s agenda is the World Masters budget.
income $1,997,866
expenses $2,587,518
LOSS $589,632. Bankrupt Svein is not paying for this LOSS, so who will? Can you guess The Taxpayers of Alachua County?
Also on the agenda is $3,392 for County manager Michelle Lieberman to fly to Gothenburg Sweeden to spend six days in August with her pal Svein “promoting” the Alachua County World Masters. Unnecessary European trips paid for by the taxpayers, but hey, remember, Alachua County is NOT putting on this money losing boondoggle WMA event.
