The meeting items of interest:
- Agricultural Land Protection Strategy – Development update
- CareerSource Consolidation Interlocal Agreement discussion
All citizens pay the Wild Spaces tax, and it should be spent without discrimination. Property for county purchase for conservation should ranked by its environmental importance, period. The Land is to be considered, not the owner. Ownership should be immaterial.
However, the Agricultural Lands Protection Strategy has a ranking matrix for evaluating land. The scoring lists, on page 19, 25 points max, the ranking criteria “Landowner qualifies as “historically underserved.” This is not equity. Call it discrimination, call it affirmative action, call it woke social justice warrior BS. Giving preference to giving Wild Spaces money to black citizens in the name of protecting sensitive land is just WRONG. Except for this BOCC.
