June 8 school board meeting extended to allow for additional public comment
Press release from Alachua County Public Schools
A special School Board meeting for a public hearing on proposed new and amended job descriptions for administrative, professional/technical, and education support positions will be extended to allow for additional public comment.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8. Public input will be taken in person and by phone. When all those who want to speak at that time have been heard, the meeting will be recessed and reconvened at 6 p.m. the same day to allow for additional public input.
Those interested in speaking in person can attend either session of the hearing in the School Board meeting room at the Alachua County Public Schools District Office (620 East University Avenue). Masks and social distancing within the room will be required. Those interested in participating by phone in either session should call (352) 955-7646. Their names will be taken and they will be placed on hold until their call is transferred into the Board meeting room in the order in which it was received.
The meeting will NOT be available on Channel 12, but both sessions of the meeting will be aired live on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFbqdGz4v9-8ag-607GvxaQ.
More public comment or more excuses? I guess the public will find out soon enough.
If memory serves me correctly, one of the sitting board members called in with respect to the county’s masks’ requirements… let’s see how loudly she speaks about “following the law” regarding district representation and following state law.
